Maximising Growth Rates with Mayo Boluses at Easy Rams
Share
'EasyRams' are run by Nick & Robyn Hulme and are the only flock producing purely 100% NZ genetic Terminal and Maternal rams. They run 1000 breeding ewes and over the last 13 years have sold over 3000 rams, all on a grass-based system.
'Because we run our ram breeding enterprise on an all-forage system and feed zero concentrates, it is absolutely vital that our sheep receive the correct level of trace elements, especially when they are unavailable from their forage diet. We have extremely variable soil types with some peat high in molybdenum and other ground short of Cobalt and Selenium so a broad spectrum bolus is important.
The high levels of Cobalt, Selenium and lodine contained within the Mayo bolus means we have a cost-efficient low labour solution to our trace element requirements for all our adult sheep including ewes and rams for sales.
We use the Mayo Lamb bolus to ensure that all our lambs maximise their growth potential which is vital when we are selling ram lambs who are then expected to go and serve large numbers of ewes'.
